A time of transition

Wondering about what's going on with the Library at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community? We are definitely in a time of transition! Here are a few examples:

• The librarian for the past 11 years, Christina Wray, has accepted a new position in sunny Florida--congratulations again, Christina!
• Sharon Soto, who has been the Library Branch Coordinator for the last 20 years, will continue to manage the day-to-day functions of the library
• Due to an internal reorganization at the Institute, the library has dropped its "center" designation and is now simply referred to as "The Library at the IIDC" rather than CeDIR
• Library services will continue throughout the state and through Indiana University's Interlibrary Loan department
• Our website, email address, and blog name have changed

Library Hours for Spring Break

The Library at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community will be open from Monday through Wednesday next week. We will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday for a shortened spring break.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, the Library will be closed on Monday, January 16th. We will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17th.

We generally follow the public school calendar's closings here in Bloomington, so this year we will be closed the week following Christmas Day and the week following New Year's Day. We will be open until December 23rd and will be closed until January 9th.

Monday - Open from 8:00 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 4:00

Tuesday - Open from 8:00 to noon

Wednesday - Closed

The library will be closed on Friday, November 10th due to a staff training. We will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14th.

If you would like to check out a title, please send us an email or leave a voicemail message. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Library materials can be returned to us by mail, or they can be returned to any Indiana University campus library and they will get them back to us.

Next week, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, CeDIR will have different hours all week. We will be closed all day on Monday, May 30th, and will be open in the mornings only (8:00 a.m. to noon) from May 31st through June 3rd.

Beginning on June 6th, we will return to our regular hours: 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00.

CeDIR will be closing early tomorrow at noon. We will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14th.

Library materials may still be returned to the receptionist at the Institute from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you'd like to check something out tomorrow, we'll be here from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

The National Library Service is announcing the 2016 Biennial National Conference of Librarians Serving Blind and Physically Handicapped Individuals set for April 3-7, 2016, in San Francisco. A day of pre-conference workshops is set for April 2nd.

In observance of the year end holidays, the CeDIR library will close at 4:00 p.m. today for two weeks and will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4th. We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year!
