According to a story on NPR yesterday, a memory care facility and nursing home in Mankato, Minnesota, has significantly reduced the need for anti-psychotic drugs through a program they call Awakenings. The program seeks to understand the cause of behaviors in elders with dementia and other cognitive disabilities and works to try to eliminate it.
