Finding close friends in the SED (Severely Emotionally Disturbed) classroom, Jason “Freak” Milwaukee learns of the disappearance of Sunshine, a girl with selective mutism who speaks only to Freak and Drip, a boy with ADHD. Freak is the prime suspect in the case and must wade through the various voices in his head to decide whether to keep Sunshine's secret or save her life.
